For over three decades, I have ministered to the incarcerated, with a special focus on their families, and victims. This extensive experience has given me unique insights into the challenges of rehabilitation and the importance of transparent, safe release processes.
Together with my husband, Chaplain John Peterson, I developed and facilitated two comprehensive prison programs: “Preparing For Release” and “Staying Free.” These were designed to provide inmates with practical tools and support to maximize their chances of success upon returning to society.
My professional journey began in healthcare, where I was employed as a registered nurse for 35 years. This medical background provided me with the deep understanding of trauma and healing that informs my current work.
Later in life, I pursued higher education in theology and religious studies, earning:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Theology
- Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies
- Master of Divinity
This combination of practical experience with incarcerated individuals, healthcare expertise, and theological education gives me a multifaceted perspective on healing, advocacy, and cultural change.
